UPDATE: Air quality warning lifted for parts of County of Grande Prairie

A yellow air quality warning has been issued for parts of the County of Grande Prairie, including Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Hythe, as wildfire smoke continues to creep into the area.

Environment Canada says the smoke is already causing or expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility in areas, and can fluctuate over short distances and can vary considerably from hour to hour.

People are warned they may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath. Children, seniors, and those with cardiovascular or lung disease, such as asthma, are especially at risk.

As of 5 p.m., August 28th,  the Air Quality Health Index for the west end of the County of Grande Prairie is a 4 or moderate risk.
