Smile Cookie Campaign raises more than $130K for Ken Sargent House

The Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign raised just over $132,000 towards the Ken Sargent House.

Back in April, Tim Hortons hosted their annual smile cookie week. Tim Hortons chose to give this years proceeds to the Grande Prairie Hospital Foundation’s Ken Sargent House.

As a result of the campaign, $132,096.95 was raised for the foundation.

Director of the Ken Sargent House, Dale Bond says receiving this donation is amazing.

“It’s absolutely amazing, and what makes it even more special is that it is our community helping out.”

Bond added that about 16 different community groups decorated cookies for Smile Cookie week, and that many people played a role in making Smile Cookie week a success.

“Not only did our community show-up and buy the cookies, but our supporters decorated those cookies for the community.”

Bond says the Ken Sargent House is still in need of just short of $5,000,000 of funding, and encourages the community to reach out if they would like to help fundraise.

According to Bond, they are anticipating to open the house sometime in December, and that you can already feel the excitement in the air.

“The excitement is building, we are getting really close to opening our doors and the building is coming to life, and we can’t wait for it to welcome our neighbours.”

Once completed, the house will have 21 total rooms. Each suite will offer at least one bed and will include tables, chairs, closet, bathroom, and a TV.
