Handful of Beaverlodge students to be recognized Friday

The 2026 recipient’s of the Rex and Karin Marshall Education and Wellness Fund is expected to be named on Friday.

Each year since 2021, the Rex and Karin Marshall Fund, has supported student achievement and honored educators who helped shape the community. Two Grade 6 students at Beaverlodge Elementary School will receive an award that includes an immediate cash prize, along with a contribution held for their future post-secondary education. The fund also provides an award for the Beaverlodge High School students that are pursuing careers in education.

“We are honored to work alongside Rex and Karin as they create a lasting legacy for Beaverlodge,” said Laura LaValley, CEO of the Northwestern Alberta Foundation. “Their generosity reflects a deep belief in the power of education and the importance of investing in future generations.”

The Marshalls created the fund in part to recognize the dedicated teachers who have devoted their lives to educating and mentoring Beaverlodge’s young people and whose contributions continue to leave a lasting impact on the community.

“We’ve been fortunate to be part of this community for many years,” said Rex and Karin Marshall. “This fund is our way of giving back, supporting students, and honoring the educators who made Beaverlodge such a special place to learn and grow.”

On Friday, June 19, Rex and Karin Marshall and their family will attend Beaverlodge Elementary School’s awards ceremony to present this year’s student awards.
