City assessors will soon be canvassing neighbourhoods to update tax assessment records
The city says that staff will begin canvassing on June 1, which will be followed by exterior property photos from late June to August.
The city added that by doing canvassing, it ensures that property records and assessments remain accurate and are up to date.
“The neighbourhood canvassing helps ensure our property records stay accurate and up to date, which supports fair and consistent property assessments that reflect current market conditions,” said Scott Smith, Assessment and Taxation Director. “We appreciate the community’s cooperation and understanding as we continue this work across the community.”
The photos and inspections are done every five years.
This years neighbourhoods will be: Country Estates, Creekside, Mountview, Crystal Heights, Crystal View, Highland Park, Patterson Place, Scenic Ridge, and Summerside.
The city says that all assessors will be in vehicles marked with a City of Grande Prairie badge and will have ID badges on hand.
Canvassing will be ongoing throughout the summer and is expected to conclude in late August.
