Police release sketch of imposter officer

Police have released a composite sketch of the man accused of impersonating an officer and pulling over a vehicle on Highway 2 earlier last week. He was reportedly driving an unmarked, light coloured SUV with emergency lights and a siren when the traffic stop happened by Webster Road around 11:30 p.m. on January 7th.

The woman pulled over but drove away after he asked her to get out of her vehicle and wouldn’t show ID. The suspect is described as Caucasian, 5’8″, with an average build, shoulder-length dark hair, a three day beard, bushy eyebrows and well-kept teeth.

His vehicle had square head lights and emergency light bars on the roof and front bumper. If you recognize him, contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

At the same time, the public should know that if they find themselves in a similar situation, or wonder whether an unmarked vehicle is actually a police cruiser, they should stay in their locked vehicle, and request ID from the person. If they’re still suspicious, they can ask for a marked police vehicle and uniformed officer to attend the scene, either by asking the person that’s pulled them over or calling 9-1-1.
