3D Children’s Society receives $20K donation during the 25th anniversary gala

The 3D Children’s Society has received a combined $20,000 from the Calgary Flames Alumni Association and the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation.

On Thursday, March 19, 3D hosted its 25th anniversary gala at the Pomeroy Hotel. The event featured several Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers alumni, including Doug Gilmour, Georges Laraque, Grant Fuhr, Jamie Macoun and Ron MacLean, who hosted the event.

The event is one of the charity’s major annual fundraisers. Money raised from tables and auctions goes toward helping children with illness in Grande Prairie. The organization helps families cover costs when they must travel out of town to see a medical professional.

During the gala, 3D was presented with two $10,000 cheques from the Calgary Flames Alumni Association and the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation.

Guest speaker and Hall of Fame netminder Grant Fuhr said it is amazing to see a charity like 3D get started in Grande Prairie.

“I think that 3D has done a phenomenal job of this, and if you take a look at how much money they have raised, and what they are raising for. If you take a look at all around the country, the fact that you come up to a small town in Grande Prairie and you look at what they do here, its such a phenomenal thing. It’s worth coming up.”

“I love how the community buys into it all. I hope the whole city continues to support it.”

It has not yet been announced how much the charity raised through the event.
