The draw for the Cars for Christmas Lottery had to be stopped after the first 12 prizes this afternoon, due to what is being called a “perceived inconsistency in draw procedures. The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission required the event to be suspended.
In a release on Facebook, the Swan City Rotary Club says to ensure fairness it will be honouring the winners of the first 12 prizes, and will be drawing for another set of winners for a second set of those prizes. They include several vehicles, ATVs, trips to Africa and Disneyland, a home entertainment package, and Prairie Mall gift cards.
The rest of prizes 13 to 100 will then be drawn, along with the 80 scratch and win prizes. A time for the draw to continue has not yet been set. The draw for the Christmas Cash Bonus Draw was done correctly.
“We appreciate the public’s continued support of the Cars for Christmas lottery,” adds the club. The annual lottery supports 13 local organizations.
