A Valleyview man involved in a fatal hit and run has been sentenced to nine months in jail. 32 year old Percy Papastesis was found dead on February 20th, 2014 south of the Calais Store on his home of the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation Reserve.
Two days later, RCMP found a 2005 Dodge Caravan with front end damage in the town of Valleyview, and its owner was later arrested. Then-19 year old Jesse Aaron Derksen was charged with Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident.
He was sentenced earlier this month and received credit for five months served.
