While on patrol in the area of Township Road 822 and Range Road 190 in the Peace Region, members of the RCMP reported a stolen vehicle fled from a traffic stop.

According to police, officers managed to locate the vehicle shortly after the incident and members of the Western Alberta Crime Reduction Unit assisted and engaged in a foot search for the vehicle’s occupants in a forested farm area.

As a result of their search, two men from Northern Sunrise County were arrested and charged with a laundry list of offences.

49-year-old Richard James William Frey has been charged with allegedly altering, removing, or obliterating a vehicle identification number, possession of property obtained by crime, resisting a police officer, failure to comply with release conditions, fraudulent concealment, and three warrants.

Meanwhile, Cory John Zeller has been charged with allegedly failing to comply with release conditions, flight from police, and five warrants, including two for assaulting a police officer.

Both men were held for a Judicial Interim Hearing where they were remanded with an upcoming court date of December 23rd at the Alberta Court of Justice in Peace River.
