Meeting on farm worker safety in Grande Prairie tomorrow

Grande Prairie area farmers and ranchers who want to learn more about new workplace regulations being proposed by the Alberta government will have a chance to do so tomorrow afternoon.

The Alberta NDP has tabled legislation that would subject farms and ranches in the province to Occupational Health and Safety legislation as of January 1. It would also ensure that the 60,000 farm and ranch workers in the province will be eligible for workers compensation.

A number of meetings are being held around the province over the next few weeks for anyone who would like to provide input on the proposed changes. Grande Prairie is first up with the meeting being held from 1 to 4 pm tomorrow at the Pomeroy Hotel. There is also a survey online that will be available until January 3, 2016.
