UPDATE: Teen charged with Alexis Nakota Sioux First Nation stabbing death

UPDATE: A teenager has been charged with the second degree murder of a man on the Alexis Nakota Sioux First Nation. 35 year old Stacey Kootenay’s body was found between two homes in the community early Friday morning. RCMP say he was stabbed, although an autopsy is scheduled for today. In addition to the murder charge, a 16 year old boy has also been charged with one count of mischief and three counts of breach of probation. He was arrested late in the day on November 13th but his name cannot be released due to his age. Both the suspect and the deceased lived on the Alexis reserve.

A body has been found on the Alexis Nakota Sioux First Nation. Mayerthorpe RCMP responded to the scene just after 8 a.m. Friday morning, following the initial response by Emergency Medical Services.

The body was found in between two homes in the community, but no further details have been provided. Police say the investigation is still in its early stages and more information will be released later on.
