Grande Prairie residents invited to welcome in the holidays during annual Christmas Tree Light-Up

All of Grande Prairie is invited to kick off the Christmas season with the City of Grande Prairie and the Downtown Association during the upcoming Christmas Tree Light-Up at Bonnetts Energy Centre on December 1st.

The festivities begin at 4:00 p.m. with free cookies, hot chocolate, and other seasonal goodies, before the lighting ceremony at 4:35 p.m. that evening.

The fun doesn’t stop there though, as visits with Santa and a Christmas movie screening are scheduled after the light-up from 4:45 to 7:00 p.m.

Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton calls the light-up a special event that kicks off the holidays in the best way—with the warmth of the community.

We invite you to join Council and our valued partner, the Downtown Association, to enjoy the festive spirit at this treasured annual tradition,” she says.

The annual Battle of the Badges hockey game between the Grande Prairie Fire Department and local law enforcement is also scheduled for the same evening.

The two rivals will face off in Bonnetts Energy Centre at 6:00 p.m. with doors opening at 5:00 p.m. Entry is available by donation with all proceeds going to the Helping Hands Society of Grande Prairie.
