GP RCMP seek help from the public following bear spray assault on November 1st

The Grande Prairie RCMP is looking for help from the public in locating a suspect allegedly involved in an assault with a weapon that occurred on November 1st.

According to police, members of the Grande Prairie RCMP were flagged down by a “distraught” male who had just been bear-sprayed in the face.

The 54-year-old victim explained to police that as he was driving in the area of 108th Avenue and 100th Street, he observed a male yelling at a group of youths that were stopped in their vehicle. Believing they could be in trouble, police say the victim yelled out to the suspect to stop, and according to the RCMP, the suspect proceeded to cross the street and discharged a can of bear spray into the victim’s face and vehicle.

The suspect is described as wearing a black hoodie, black hat, and black backpack, having a “narrow face,” and in possession of a black e-bike. The youth who were observed at the scene are described as driving a Mazda pick-up truck with a bed cover.
