City and County of GP mark the official opening of Connector Trail during ribbon cutting ceremony

The City and County of Grande Prairie have cut the ribbon to mark the completion of the Connector Trail between the two municipalities.

The ceremony took place at the end of October and saw representatives from the City and County of Grande Prairie in attendance.

Construction on the trail began in October 2023, and the million-dollar infrastructure project was supported by a $750K grant from the Canada Community Revitalization Fund, an allocation of $263K from the county’s municipal reserve funding, and a nearly $49K funding commitment from the city.

Originally, the hope was to have the trail open for the public in the spring of 2024; however, the project finally reached its completion in October and is now open for residents.

The two-kilometre paved trail runs parallel to Range Road 61 and includes a new pedestrian crossing at Highway 668.
