Mock emergency at Grande Prairie Airport

Yet another emergency exercise has been held in the Grande Prairie area. This morning the local airport tested its Emergency Responders Plan with a theoretical security threat that caused a plane crash.

In addition to the airport, the exercise involved both the City and County of Grande Prairie’s fire departments, RCMP, EMS, and the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership, along with Air Canada and WestJet.

Transport Canada Security and Emergency Preparedness mandate that the airport hold a live exercise every four years. The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership held a large-scale exercise recently, followed by a military one last week.
