A 63 year old woman has passed away after an accident near the Grande Prairie Airport Sunday night.
The collision occurred around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 43 and 124th Street between a small car and pick-up truck.
It appears the car was trying to turn left onto the highway from 124th Street when it collided with the westbound pickup.
The woman was the driver of the car and had to be extricated from her vehicle by the fire department and was trapped for some time.
She later passed away in hospital.
A female passenger of the pickup was also injured, but is expected to recover.
The driver of the pickup was also taken to hospital as a precaution.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but drugs and alcohol are not considered a factor.
