Good news for campers heading out this long weekend – the wildfire hazard is down to low.
Wildfire Information Officer Kelly Burke says the rain and snow expected in the Grande Prairie Wildfire Management Region have helped, although the sun is expected tom come back and start to dry things out Sunday.
She notes that there still is a risk of starting a wildfire, and reminds anyone out in the woods this weekends to make sure their campfires are full out. That means soaking the ashes until they are cool.
