UPDATE: Doctor found to cover part of shortage at Fairview Health Complex ED

UPDATE: Alberta Health Services has found physician coverage for the Fairview Health Complex Emergency Department, cancelling the closure from 7 a.m. Friday, October 6th to 7 a.m. Saturday, October 7th.

The Fairview Health Complex emergency department will be without a physician on-site for 48 hours.

According to Alberta Health Services, the lack of physician coverage will start at 7 a.m. Thursday, October 5th and will continue until 7 a.m. Saturday, October 7th. However, if coverage is found, the provincial health authority will cancel the disruption.

“Patients are asked to call 9-1-1 if they have a medical emergency. EMS will remain available to the community and will be re-routed to surrounding healthcare centres.”
