An annual walk to honour the lives of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit, transgender and gender-diverse people will take place Wednesday, starting at the Spirit Rock at Northwestern Polytechnic.
The Sisters in Spirit Walk will start at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4th, then lead to the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre. It will be followed by a candlelight vigil there, during which families will be able to share a photo or stories of a loved one as well as take part in an open mic.
Those attending the walk and vigil are encouraged to wear blue and bring a drum or rattle. This year will be the 14th annual Sisters in Spirit Walk and Vigil in Grande Prairie.
