Cash and Camping Lottery ticket sales lagging behind previous years

Around 50 per cent of Cash and Camping lottery tickets are still available, as the Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie head into their last month of sales for the campaign and approaches the Early bird #3 ticket deadline. According to the organizations, the number of tickets sold will impact the payout amounts this year’s partner organization will receive.

According to Swan City Rotary Raffle Chairperson Pam Nordin usually around this time in the campaign ticket sales are up slightly.

“While there have been many things that have diverted attention away from this lottery campaign such as the wildfires, election, and increased competition in the marketplace we know that Grande Prairie and Area residents have always supported the lottery and hope they will continue to get out and get their tickets.”

Funds raised through the lottery help support individuals, families and non-profit groups offset some of the costs, and help various non-profit groups raise funds for various community initiatives. Lottery funds raised also help provide for immediate community needs. According to the Rotary Groups of Grande Prairie, an example of this is “2021 where funds from the lottery over the final two days of sales were donated to the Grande Prairie food bank to support the increase in users due to the effects of the pandemic.” This year the lottery will be donating $1 from every Cash and Camping ticket sold to the Northwestern Alberta Emergency Recovery Fund to help with wildfire recovery efforts which could include mental health support, rebuilding, community programming, etc.

The final early bird deadline is June 19th, with this year’s early bird prizes including a $12,000 Compass Mountain Adventure Package, and an all-inclusive vacation package which includes fishing, hiking, horseback riding, meals and accommodations.

The grand prize for this year’s lottery includes a Keystone Avalanche Fifth wheel, Ford F350, and fifth wheel hitch.
