Evacuation order downgraded to alert south of Grovedale

The evacuation order for residents south of Grovedale has been downgraded to an evacuation alert. As of 4:18 p.m. Tuesday, May 23rd residents who live south of Township Road 690 between Highway 40 and the BC border can return home.

According to the MD of Greenview, though residents can return they “must remain prepared to evacuate on short notice.”

Residents are being reminded that the Bald Mountain wildfire is still active and no one is allowed in or near the active fire perimeter. As of 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 22nd the fire was estimated to be 19,435 hectares in size.
