Intersection work at 132 Avenue, 97 Street begins Tuesday

The addition of five new turn bays and a new traffic signal at 132nd Ave and 97th Street is set to get underway Tuesday, May 23rd. According to the City of Grande Prairie, the construction at the intersection will improve traffic flow in the area along with safety.

According to Project Technologist Andrew Booth, these are top priorities for the city.

“We are excited to begin this construction project at the intersection of 132 Avenue and 97 Street,” Booth says. “By adding turn bays and installing new traffic signals, we enhance the efficiency of traffic movements, alleviate congestion and improve overall traffic flow in the area.”

Speed in the area will be reduced to 30 kilometres per hour during construction and drivers are being advised to follow all signs in the area and drive with caution when going through a construction zone.
