The emergency department in the Valleyview Health Centre will be re-opening at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 18th after patients and staff were evacuated from the facility on the 15th because of the local wildfires.
As of 5 p.m. Thursday, the emergency department is the only service re-opening at the health centre, with inpatient admissions remaining on pause.
According to AHS “EMS continues to be available to the community and will transport patients to other facilities as needed.”
Appointments for things such as laboratory services, mental health and public health, and diagnostic imaging have been postponed, and those with an appointment scheduled will be contacted to rebook. According to Alberta Health Services, they are working to ensure the community has urgent care available.
