Fox Creek knife attack victims identified

The names of the victim’s of last week’s double homicide at a work camp near Fox Creek have been made public. According to court documents, 37 year old Dave Derksen of LaCrete and 50 year old Hally Dubois of Red Deer were found dead at Berland Open Lodge just before 2 a.m. June 29th. They were the camp’s general manager and a client.

The suspect was found armed with a knife and was shot by police. 28 year old Daniel Goodridge of Edmonton has been charged with first and second degree murder, assault with a weapon against civilians and a police officer, and interfering with human remains. That charge is reportedly related to cutting pieces of one of the victims’ bodies.

Goodridge was a general helper in the kitchen, and had been with the Canada North Camps company for two years. He’s set to appear in Fox Creek court on July 27th.
