Alberta Wildfire and Central Peace Fire and Rescue officials say the Silverwood wildfire southwest of Rycroft is now under control.
In a post on social media, fire officials say there is little threat of further spread as fire guards are in place, as well as a reduction of ground fuels for the fire and other mitigation efforts.
Despite the good news overall, fire officials say hot spots and smouldering areas remain but are being monitored. Residents and anyone in the area are still urged to use extreme caution while outdoors, as the dry conditions remain in the area.
