Grande Prairie man facing identity theft, fraud charges

A 38-year-old Grande Prairie man is facing several identity theft and fraud charges after Grande Prairie RCMP received a report about a vehicle being bought with a stolen identity.

According to police, on April 12th they “were contacted by a witness who informed that they believed someone had impersonated an individual they knew and used their identity to purchase a Hyundai Santa Fe valued at over $45,000.” Officers were able to stop the delivery and arrested 38-year-old Justin Heaven.

Heaven is facing several charges including, fraud greater than $5000, identity fraud and possession of a controlled substance. He has been released from custody and is scheduled to be in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on May 17th.

RCMP is thanking the person who reported the tip, as that information led to the investigation.
