Arts gallery hosts Northwestern Polytechnic Alumni artist

A new exhibition at the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie called “Drawing Conclusions,” feature a selection of drawings of a Northwestern Polytechnic instructor.

Edward Bader, who was born in Lethbridge and has been an instructor at Northwestern Polytechnic, teaching art history, drawing, and digital media since 1998. Bader says drawing holds a special place in his heart.

“Arts is a way for me to talk about my place in the world in terms of either my mystical side, sexuality, or the beauty of nature just trying to express,” says Bader.

Bader has held solo and group exhibitions throughout his 30 year career, including in Toronto, Seattle, and Berlin. Bader says his drawings investigate the interrelationship between the local and global and how history, society, and culture determine one’s experience of place.

“I believe that an artist should be intellectually curious, aware, and cognizant of the philosophical, social, and scientific concern of their age.”

Drawing Conclusions will remain until September 17, 2023.
