GoFundMe launched for Grande Prairie family displaced by fire

A gofundme has been launched after a family in Grande Prairie lost their home to a fire on Wednesday morning.

Family friend Lissa Dunn says she has been friends with the family for a while and she is hoping to get them back on their feet.

“They left the house with nothing but their clothes on their backs and I want to help them rebuild. They need basically everything, clothes, food, and necessity,” says Dunn.

The Grande Prairie Fire Department was called to a fire scene involving two houses in the Mission neighbourhood shortly after 3 a.m. Wednesday, and despite being able to knock the blaze down in fairly short order, several people were displaced as a result. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

Dunn says residents who are happy to help can donate money, food, and size 5 diapers/wipes and infant Tylenol for their two-year-old.

Anyone able to donate can drop items off at Strasdin-Sangha Orthodontics where the family can pick them up, or donate money at gofundme.com.
