Another near record-breaking hot day in Grande Prairie

It came close, but Grande Prairie failed to break any heat records this weekend. It reached 28 degrees Sunday, just short of the 28.8 the city saw in 2008. It was even closer on Saturday, when the high of 28.7 nearly bested the previous record of 29.3 degrees.

A health advisory for northern Alberta is in effect until noon today, with Alberta Health Services recommending residents and visitors keep outdoor activities to cooler parts of the day, drink plenty of water, wear sunscreen, and not leave any people or pets inside a closed vehicle.

A high of 29 is in the forecast for today.
