Grande Prairie Piranhas swimmers to represent Team Canada internationally

Two Grande Prairie Piranhas swimmers will compete for Team Canada on the international stage.  Jordan Greber and Oliver Dawson are among 26 swimmers representing Canada at the 2023 World Junior Swimming Championships alongside their coach Alex Dawson.

The two recently competed at the Canadian Swimming Trials in Toronto, with Greber netting a silver and a gold, while Dawson won two gold medals while also setting a pair of Alberta Provincial records.

Greber says getting that experience and training with great people is going to be a big step in her swimming career.

“I feel great, I’m very happy that I accomplished my goal for the season which was making the Junior World team.” Greber adds she will head to University of Arizona after high school and continue her swimming career.

Coach Alex Dawson says it’s exciting for the whole club to be able to represent Canada. The swimmers will get back to their regular 20 hours a week of swimming after taking one week’s break.

“A really great experience for these two swimmers that are gonna be going on to the championship team. It’s also a big achievement for the club.”

The 2023 World Junior Championships is scheduled to take place from September 4th to 9th in Netanya, Israel.
