Wind warning issued for Grande Prairie, Peace River regions

Strong winds and a cold front are expected in the Grande Prairie and Peace River areas Sunday night. Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for the Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge – Valleyview and Peace River – Fairview – High Prairie – Manning regions.

It says strong wind gusts up to 90 kilometres per hour are expected along with a cold front. The winds should ease by Monday morning.

“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.”

In Grande Prairie, the forecast is calling for 20 kilometres per hour winds gusting up to 40 kilometres per hour Sunday afternoon. In the evening, the wind gusts could reach 90 kilometres per hour.
