Plans to decentralize Alberta health care scrapped

Plans to decentralize Alberta Health Services are off.

The former PC government introduced the plan to return to a regional model in March, but it was put on hold when the election was called the following month. Now, the NDP government has confirmed the change will not go ahead.

AHS will instead be looking for other ways to increase local input while it waits for further direction from the province.

The decision has been praised by both the Alberta Party and the Liberals, but has been met with criticism from the Opposition Wildrose and the Tories.
