Salvation Army Christmas kettle campaign kicks off Thursday

The Salvation Army‘s annual Christmas kettle campaign will kick off Thursday at the Prairie Mall. Funds raised from the campaign go towards year-round programs that the Salvation Army provides including the food bank, hot meals, clothing, counselling, and more.

Captain Peter Kim says that over the years the campaign has been a success because of those who support it, by either giving their time or donating.

“I have been lucky to witness the generosity and dedication of the people of Grande Prairie to helping our neighbours in need for the past seven years, through some very hard times,” Kim says.

Thursday morning City of Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton will make the first kettle donation of the season. The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. will celebrate the first day of the campaign, and share the spirit of the season with the Alberta Fine Arts Foundation performing Christmas music and appearances by the 501st Legion.
