Preparation has begun for the municipal election set for the fall. The city of Grande Prairie has made a new rule for running this year. All candidates must file an Intent to Run for Municipal Office before starting a campaign.

The Election Candidate packages are also available at the city. Information about candidate qualifications, roles and responsibilities, election signs, nomination forms, calendar of events, voting subdivisions, and legislation is held in the package. Nomination day will be Monday, September 18th, 2017.

The Mayor and Council packages are available at city hall during regular business hours.

The School Board election candidate packages are also ready to be picked up. The Catholic School Trustee information can be grabbed from the Catholic Education Centre. The Public School Board Trustee candidates can swing by city hall before May 10th to pick up a package. After that, they will be able to be picked up from the new School Board Office on 120th Avenue.
