The County of Grande Prairie has issued an evacuation alert for everyone located north of Township Road 714 to Township Road 734, east of the British Columbia/Alberta border to Range Road 131 due to a wildfire near the BC border.
The County of Grande Prairie has reduced the Kiskatinaw River wildfire evacuation area, allowing those who live east of Range Road 132 to Range Road 130 between Township Road 710 and Township Road 740 to return home.
The Town of Fox Creek, along with several partners, is exploring a new option to build resilience in Alberta's forests with hopes to keep the province out of truffle as wildfires continue to pose a threat during the warm season.Â
The Grande Prairie Forest Area remains fire free this season; however, controlled burning is underway in Sturgeon Lake to reduce the fire danger for the community.Â
The uptick of major events in the City of Grande Prairie is only one way the community is being highlighted to visitors, according to the city’s mayor.Â
