UPDATE: MD of Greenview still affected by flooding

UPDATE #2: The MD says Tuesday that flooding is moving from the north to southeast affecting New Fish Creek, Sunset House, Sweathouse and the Valleyview rural area. Localized flooding is also reported in DeBolt, Ridgevalley, Puskwaskau and Little Smoky. Barricades and signs are being placed at affected locations and sandbags are available.

UPDATE: The MD says that as of 4 p.m. Monday, water in some areas is receding. However, increased spring runoff is expected to continue over the next couple of days and new roads may be affected.

The MD of Greenview is dealing with significant flooding due to spring runoff. The areas affected include New Fish Creek, Sunset House, Sweathouse, Little Smoky, Ridgevalley, and Puskwaskau, as well as rural roads north and south of Valleyview.

An overland flooding alert has been issued for the region, and the MD says signs have been posted around the problem areas. Drivers are urged not to try to drive over any roads covered in water as some sections could be washed out and hidden.

Affected residents who have questions are asked to contact Ron Pollack at 780-524-7607 for all areas east of DeBolt or Robert Kazakawich at 780-524-6086 for the DeBolt area and west region of the municipality at including Grovedale and Grande Cache.
