Police are investigating another hit-and-run involving a pedestrian in the Grande Prairie area. The RCMP says it was called to the corner of 97 Avenue and 100 Street around 1:39 p.m. Friday, November 24th.

It's reported a pedestrian suffered minor injuries when it was hit by a vehicle that may have been a dark-coloured, possibly black SUV. The vehicle allegedly did not stay at the scene.

Officers are looking to identify the vehicle and driver. Anyone who may have seen what happened or who may have dash cam footage of the intersection between 1:15 and 1:30 p.m. on the 24th is asked to come forward.

This investigation comes just a few days after another incident where a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. In that case, it happened sometime between 7 and 8 p.m. on Highway 672 between Range Roads 74 and 75.

A man has been reported missing from Fairview. 31-year-old Coalton Robert Breuer was last seen by a friend in Fairview the week of October 30th.

The RCMP says on November 1st, a man matching his description was picked up on the Chinchaga Forestry Road near Hotchkiss and dropped off in Warrensville. The next day, that man went to a home in Whitelaw where he asked to use a phone and promptly left.

Coalton has not been seen or heard from since, and police are concerned for his wellbeing.

The man has been described as 5'8" and 140 pounds with a fair complexion, brown hair, and green eyes. He has a tattoo on his left forearm of a Walleye and was last seen wearing brown bib overalls and a grey hoodie.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Police have reached out to the public for help investigating a recent attack on a youth. Grande Prairie RCMP says it was first called about the incident in the Pinnacle Grove area around 11:30 p.m. on November 8th.

The initial investigation has found that a youth was attacked by several people. Mounties have not commented on their condition.

Anyone who may have seen something in the Pinnacle Grove area or on Pinnacle Drive between 112 Street and Pinnacle Street on November 8th between 9:30 and 10 p.m. is asked to come forward. The same goes for anyone with doorbell or dashcam footage during that time that could help in the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Grande Prairie RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

On November 16th, Grande Prairie RCMP located Anna Letnes safe and unharmed.

Police have reached out to the public for helping finding a missing girl. 14-year-old Anna Letnes was last heard from early Tuesday.

Anna is described as 5'7" and 100 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a sweater and pyjamas.

Grande Prairie RCMP says there is concern for her wellbeing and asks anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact the detachment or Crime Stoppers.

A magnitude 4 earthquake was reported near Grande Prairie at 3:07 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Earthquakes Canada says it was located 64 kilometres eastsoutheast of the city at a depth of 10 kilometres.

The location was at a latitude of 54.73 north and longitude of 118.14 west. Earthquakes Canada says there are so far no reports of damage, and none would be expected.

UPDATE:  Grande Prairie RCMP has advised the public that Eileen Lafferty has been located safe. 

Police have reached out to the public for helping finding a missing teen. 17-year-old Eileen Lafferty was last seen in Grande Prairie on November 5th.

She is described as 5'1" and roughly 99 pounds with a medium complexion, black hair, and brown eyes. She also has facial tattoos.

The RCMP says there is concern for the girl's safety and wellbeing. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact the detachment or Crime Stoppers.

Grande Prairie RCMP looking for a missing 17-year-old. Carter Martin was last seen in the Stone Ridge area of Grande Prairie at 5:15 p.m. on November 3rd and there is concern for his wellbeing.

Carter is described as 6'2" and 170 pounds with a medium complexion, brown hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing two hoodies, a purple t-shirt, grey cargo pants, red sandals, and a tan tuque.

Anyone with information on the boy's whereabouts is asked to contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

UPDATE: The fog advisory for Grande Prairie County has ended.

A fog advisory has been issued for the Grande Prairie - Beaverlodge - Valleyview region. As of 3 a.m. Sunday, Environment Canada says patches of dense fog are causing near zero visibility.

"Conditions will improve later this morning."

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.

"If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop."

UPDATE: The freezing rain warning has ended.

Freezing rain is expected to develop Saturday morning in the Grande Prairie area. Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for the Grande Prairie - Beaverlodge - Valleyview region.

It's expected conditions will improve in the afternoon as temperatures rise above zero degrees Celsius.

"Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions."

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.

Blue-green algae advisories are no longer in effect for any bodies of water in the Alberta Health Services North Zone. They were pulled for 28 lakes yesterday due to recent weather cooling them to the point that the cyanobacteria are no longer a health concern.

Those include Moonshine Lake and Sturgeon Lake. Visitors and residents are reminded to never drink or cook with untreated water directly from any recreational body of water at any time.

UPDATE: The highway has reopened.

A semi truck rollover has closed Highway 43 westbound at Range Road 41. Grande Prairie Rural RCMP says the westbound lanes are completely blocked and traffic is being diverted.

It's noted that eastbound traffic will also be considerably slowed. People travelling to Grande Prairie are asked to take alternate routes, like Highway 670.

An educational assistant has been charged with sexual offences involving a youth. Grande Prairie RCMP says it got a report about a potential inappropriate relationship between the employee and a youth on September 28th.

The investigation led to 23-year-old Brooke Richer of Grande Prairie being charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation, and luring a child. She has been released from police custody with a court date set for November 8th.

Three people from Grande Prairie are facing human trafficking charges after a woman from Toronto was allegedly forced into sex work. The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams Human Trafficking unit believes the victim was coerced to relocate to Grande Prairie over social media under the pretense of a job.

It's alleged that when she got to the city, she was forced to work in the sex trade under the threat of violence. Her money was apparently withheld to pay back the moving expenses covered for her.

The woman managed to escape from the group's control in May 2023 and she contacted the Toronto Police Service. The three suspects were arrested on September 19th with the help of Grande Prairie RCMP.

As part of the investigation, ALERT searched two homes and allegedly seized cash, a truck, and more than $30,000 worth of cocaine.

23-year-old Romeo Spence is charged with trafficking a persons, procuring, material benefit from trafficking a person, uttering threats, and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

46-year-old Andre Wright is charged with trafficking a persons, procuring, uttering threats, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and possession of another person’s identity.

29-year-old Hipai Bangisa is charged with trafficking a persons, procuring, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of crime.

All three suspects have been released from custody. Bangisa and Wright are scheduled to appear in court on October 23rd and Spence is scheduled to appear in court on November 2nd.

Sergeant Chris Hayes from ALERT Human Trafficking says the best advice he can give is to know who you’re talking to and what you’re getting yourself into.

"If people are offering you deals that seem too good to be true, ask questions. If they’re offering to buy you plane tickets and fly you across the country, ask for details and find out the facts. Understand what is going to be expected of you."

Survivors of sex trafficking can call 211 for help.
