Former Halliburton employee charged in shooting

RCMP have laid charges against the man arrested following a firearms complaint at Halliburton on Tuesday night.

Police were called the the scene in the Clairmont Industrial Park shortly before 8 pm after a report that a man had entered the site and was shooting a rifle.

58 year old Panagiotis Michalakakos was arrested around midnight after another Halliburton employee made contact with him and was able to help police start negotiations.

Michalakakos has been charged with two counts of careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, uttering threats, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of possession of a prohibited firearm, two count of intentional and reckless discharge of a firearm, two counts of mischief over $5000, and unlawfully possessing ammunition.

No bail was posted for Michalakakos during a hearing yesterday evening so he has been remanded into custody.

He will appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on April 8.
