250,000 litres spilled in pipeline leak near Fox Creek

It’s estimated 250,000 litres of oil emulsion spilled from a pipeline leak last month. Trilogy Energy initially said the mixture of oil and water covered three hectares of land 15 kilometres east of Fox Creek.

The spill was first reported on October 6th, but the amount wasn’t released until last week. The number is just a preliminary estimate, and could be updated at the investigation continues.

The Alberta Energy Regulator is still in the first phase of its analysis, which is the collection of evidence. According to the latest update on its website, Trilogy says it has not yet figured out what caused the leak.
