Residents encouraged to report potholes as GP’s weather continues freeze-thaw trend

The City of Grande Prairie is urging residents to report potholes to help snow-clearing crews keep the city’s roads safe during the cold season.

According to the city, now that the snow is melting, potholes and excess water have been nearly unavoidable on Grande Prairie’s roads, and now, the city is calling on residents to report problem areas so crews can continue management.

The city highlights a few key operations snow-clearing crews have been up to so far this winter. Officials say crews have been hard at work patrolling for potholes, addressing those caused by the freeze-thaw cycles that have been the trend this winter.

Crews have also been loading and hauling snow piles from residential areas, parking lots, and other key areas. Spot blading has been underway for weeks now, with crews addressing icy or uneven surfaces in high-traffic areas to ensure a smooth commute for residents.

Additionally, water trucks have been maintaining culverts and catch basins to manage runoff, while sanders and loaders are actively cleaning up snow that drifts into parking lots and roadways.

Residents who notice any areas that need attention can report their findings on the city’s online services section on their website.
