PWPSD appoints new Superintendent of Schools

The Peace Wapiti Public School Division Board of Trustees has appointed Mr. Shawn O’Shea as Superintendent of Schools, effective September 1st of this year.

O’Shea has been with the division for nearly 20 years, occupying a number of roles including- Assistant Principal, Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and now, Superintendent of Schools.

Board Chair Lori Grant says the Board is quite enthusiastic about welcoming O’Shea to his new role.

“The Board would like to extend our congratulations to Mr. O’Shea,” she says. “He brings a depth and breadth of knowledge and experience to this role.”

O’Shea is described as a “living, breathing” example of the PWPSD’s motto of “Educating Today for Success Tomorrow,” as he began his time with the division as a Grade One student at Spirit River Elementary School in the late 1970s, and now, O’Shea says the division is “home.”

“I have been privileged to be part of our division for over four decades, and I couldn’t be more honoured to serve the staff, students, and families of PWPSD in this new capacity,” he says. “I am very grateful to the Board of Trustees for entrusting me with such an important role and am excited for our future together.”

O’Shea’s appointment to the role will mark the end of outgoing Superintendent Mr. Bob Stewart’s time with the division, as he will retire at the end of August, following more than 30 years with the PWPSD.
