Several County of Grande Prairie waste management centres operating on adjusted hours during Christmas break

The County of Grande Prairie has set the holiday hours for its facilities and services, including recycling, the landfill, and others.

According to the county, all county offices will be closed to the public as of 1:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve. County offices will reopen on January 2nd, and the county maintains all essential services will operate during the closure.

Some areas in the county will see different curbside collection days during the break. Hythe residents will have their garbage picked up on December 24th and 31st instead of December 25th and January 1st, while Carriage Lane and South Clairmont will have pickups operating on December 26th and 31st, instead of Christmas and New Year’s Day.

When it comes to recycling and waste management facilities, the Clairmont Centre will be closing early on December 24th and 31st at 4:00 p.m., and will be closed from December 25th to the 26th, January 1st, and February 17th.

The Transfer Stations in Demmitt and Teepee Creek will be closed on December 26th, while the Elmworth Transfer Station will only close on December 25th and January 1st, and the West Grande Prairie Regional Landfill will be closed on Christmas Day only.

Residents in need of essential services during the break can access a full list on the county’s website.
