Bear Creek Funeral Home sharing more spooky stories this Halloween

Looking to make the hair on the back of your neck stand up Halloween weekend? Then you don’t have to look far, with the Bear Creek Funeral Home and Cremation Sanctuary presenting Grande Prairie Ghost Stories on Friday and Saturday. Owner Eunice Friesen says that in 2019 she started with the idea of a ghost stories tour, but as she found more stories around the Peace Country the idea changed and was moved to the funeral home. She adds that they try to verify the facts of the story as much as possible.

“This is a fundraiser for South Peace Regional Archives,” Friesen says. “Which is really handy because the South Peace Regional Archives can look into a lot of the information like the names, the date, and the location.”

The event is expected to be an hour to an hour and a half long. Friesen says that it will be broken up into three different sections. The first section will be about ghost stories from around the Peace Country. The second section is stories of crematories and cemeteries, Friesen explains that she and her husband bring some of these stories back from their trips, plus some stories from things that have happened in Bear Creek.

“The third section is about ghost stories from locations around Grande Prairie. One of my favorite ones is the little boy at the old Canadian Bank of Commerce building, which sits at the NW corner of 100th Avenue and 100th Street.”

The night will also offer snacks and drinks inspired by different stories from the night.

Tickets are available on EventBrite or by calling Bear Creek Funeral Home at 780-830-7742.
