Rainfall warning issued for Grande Prairie, Peace River regions

Up to 50 millimetres of rain could fall in parts of the Peace Country. A rainfall warning has been issued for Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge – Valleyview and Peace River – Fairview – High Prairie – Manning regions.

As of 6:33 p.m. Saturday, 43.6 millimetres of rain had fallen at the Grande Prairie Airport since 6 p.m. Friday. Environment Canada says rain will continue Saturday night with an additional five to 15 millimetres expected.

“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.”

In Grande Prairie, the forecast is calling for 10 to 15 millimetres overnight with fog patches.
