Traffic signal outage planned for Sunday at 84 Avenue/108 Street intersection

The traffic signals at the No Frills intersection will not be working on Sunday. The City of Grande Prairie says crews will be removing the existing cables and junction box and installing a new conduit at the 84 Avenue and 108 Street intersection.

During that time, the northbound traffic signal will be disconnected and the rest will be flashing red. The intersection should be treated as a four-way stop and the work should only take one day.

The construction is part of a larger project to change traffic at that intersection. The city is adding a third northbound lane north of 84 Avenue and changing the westbound to northbound right turn lane into a free flow lane.

The project is slated to take until the middle of October. In the meantime, northbound traffic on 108 Street is down to one lane and the westbound to northbound right turn lane is closed.
