UPDATE: Some Eastlink Centre pool amenities closed due to broken glass

UPDATE: In a social media post, the Eastlink Centre clarified that the contamination is from broken glass. People are reminded not to bring glass objects into the pool area.

Poolgoers won’t be able to use the splash park, wading pool, and family hot tub in the aquatics area at the Eastlink Centre for the next couple of days. The City of Grande Prairie says they are closed due to contamination until further notice.

“Public safety remains a priority. Facility staff are following proper protocols for dealing with contamination.”

The city maintains no risks have been identified for people who visited the facility Friday. The closure is anticipated to last 24 to 48 hours.

The rest of the pool will stay open and there should be no effect on aquatic programming like swimming lessons.
