20,000 Smile Cookies being delivered to Grande Prairie area schools

Need a reason to smile? How about 20,000? Over the next week, 20,000 students, teachers, and administration in the City and County of Grande Prairie will get an extra smile delivered by hand, as the Sargent Family Foundation, Ken Sargent GMC, and Sean Sargent Toyota are out and about delivering Tim Hortons Smile Cookies. Cookies also get delivered to municipal staff and the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

Sean Sargent, who delivers the cookies in his A-Team van, says it’s one of the most looked forward to times of year on his calendar. This is the 10th year he has made the donation to kickoff the campaign.

“It’s been an honour to do this; it’s a ton of fun and it’s great to get back in the saddle again doing it this year to see all the kids, teachers, and administration,” he says.

Sargent says in addition to the feel-good factor the week of deliveries brings, where the money goes is equally as important. The $20,000 from the sale goes to the Grande Prairie Hospital Foundation, which he hopes will make a difference in the lives of those who need the care most.

“Any enhancement to healthcare we can provide that isn’t provided normally is just that much more benefit for all the people in Grande Prairie and the region. If it doesn’t affect you directly, it’ll affect someone you know and will enhance their life when they need it.”

100 per cent of the proceeds of Smile Cookies sold in Grande Prairie between September 19th and 25th will go to supporting cancer care at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. In 2021, a little over $68,000 was raised during the Smile Cookie campaign.
