Drivers will be slowed down on 116 Street until the middle of October. Work began Sunday on a full road reconstruction in the northbound lanes from 97 Avenue to 84 Avenue.
Traffic heading north is down to a single lane with a speed limit of 30 kilometres per hour during construction Monday through Saturday. Access to businesses in the area should be maintained.
The City of Grande Prairie says the work will bring the section of road up to current construction standards to accommodate high volumes of truck traffic that are expected to increase.
