Former Chamber of Commerce chair named to Alberta Chamber board

Former Grande Prairie and District Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Shawna Miller has found a new position with the Alberta Chambers of Commerce. Miller has been elected to the position of treasurer, which she says is a great opportunity to represent her region and some of the challenges the business community here faces

“It’s a really new and exciting time right now and I think it’s just to see where everything goes in the near future and keep my finger on the pulse of what’s affecting our business community in this area and just making sure that I’m representing and voicing those concerns.”

Miller says she will continue to advocate for changes to the way the Temporary Foreign Worker program is run in Alberta.

“With the changes to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, businesses are still experiencing issues and have concerns about those changes. It’s just important to keep talking about it and looking for solutions and making sure the right people are hearing those concerns”

The Grande Prairie Chamber of Commerce past-president is a local Subway franchisee, is in her 8th year with the chamber.

She says she is thrilled to have been elected to the board, and hopes the position will help her gain enough experience to one day put her name forward for the position of chair.
