Drivers will need to start taking a new route around construction on the Rio Grande Bridge replacement. Starting Monday, Range Road 121 will close between Township Road 704 and the bridge.
Crews will be moving to the north side of the bridge to finish its realignment. People needing to get to the Rio Grande Sports Grounds can do so by heading north on Range Road 121 from Township Road 703. Range Road 121 is also closed to non-local traffic from Secondary Highway 722 to Township Road 703 for ongoing base paving work.
It’s expected this phase of the project will be done by the end of September. After that, paving work will be left, which could lead to more road and lane closures.
The full replacement is planned to be done this construction season. The budget is $6.7 million from the County of Grande Prairie.
